Introducing Inca Peanut: The Perfect On-the-Go Protein Snack

Incaliving’s Sacha Inchi Seeds, or the “Inca Peanut”, is a great on the go protein snack for the kids, those that are keto conscious, or vegan athletes always concerned about great clean sources of vegan protein. Our perfectly roasted seeds will help deliver a wide variety of potential health benefits and are available in three deliciously convenient flavors:

All Natural: A great mild, nutty taste, like that of a roasted peanut but with a slight woody flavor.

Salted: All Natural seeds salted with the finest rock salt from the caves of mishkiyacu in San Martin- Peru.

Spicy: Spiced with organic Charapita pepper, a local pepper to the region that also contains antioxidants and gives this snack a little bit of heat.

Many people think that Sacha Inchi is a nut, but it’s not; it’s a drupe, which is a fruit that surrounds a shell with seeds inside. Sacha Inchi is called ‘the Seed of Life’ to the ancient Incas, because of the numerous potential health benefits, it has been around for nearly 3000 years, and everyone knows that perhaps the purest and best made Sacha Inchi seeds are still made just like the Incas would have made them.

Potential health benefits

First, sacha inchi seeds could possibly help in reducing cholesterol simply by replacing bad fats (Chirinos et al, 8). Sacha inchi is finding more and more support in the science community regarding its effects on cholesterol (Garmendia et al, 9). In fact, sacha inchi may help lower the LDL (Alayon et al, 10) as well potentially increase the HDL because after a four month experiment between sacha inchi and sunflower, one study found the Inca Peanut impacting and raising the HDL the most (Gonzales et al, 11).

And the impact on cardiovascular health (Fleming et al, 12) isn’t stopping at cholesterol as sacha inchi seeds may possibly help with high blood pressure (Gonzalez et al, 13) thanks to the high amounts of potassium in sacha inchi (Kim et al, 14).

Additionally, sacha inchi contains a balance of the fatty acids Omegas 3, 6 and 9 (Kim et al, 15), which when coming from a renewable plant source (Fleming et al, 16) like the sacha inchi tree, could be just as effective as fish oil according to more and more research (Maurer et al, 17).

Therefore, with approximately 6,700mg of pure Omega 3s, sacha inchi seeds may be increasingly important to diets because of the numerous potential health benefits to the skin (Fanali et al, 18), which may include helping to improve the appearance of the skin, while also reducing wrinkles, sun spots and blemishes (Soimee et al, 19). Also, omega 3s from the sacha inchi seed may have soothing anti-inflammatory properties that may help prevent psoriasis and eczema (Raveendran, 20).

But the potential benefits for the skin aren’t just due to the rich omegas. Sacha inchi seeds are also high in antioxidants gamma-tocopherol and phenolic compounds, and they may help protect the body from aging faster since these antioxidants are known to help fight harmful free radicals (Cisneros et al, 21).

Next, the omega 3s found naturally in sacha inchi (Ramos-Escudero et al, 22) work to potentially help reduce the inflammation of the joints, muscle soreness from exercising and aides in the fight of possible chronic diseases linked to inflammation, like arthritis (Nasciemento et al, 23), making it a convenient snack for both pre and post workouts.

Also, once again, the Omega-3 fatty acids found in the seeds could potentially help to reduce inflammation within the brain, alleviate headaches and could help with improved mood (Kohler et al, 24). Sacha inchi could possibly help ease inflammation within the brain, which according to studies found that inflammation can cause emotional issues like depression and memory loss (Cisneros et al, 25).

It may seem counterintuitive since sacha inchi seeds are known to be high in calories, but these little seeds may also help in the fight against weight gain too (Sathe et al, 26). Fiber (linked to gastrointestinal health) represents approximately 75% of the carbohydrates in sacha inchi nuts (So et al, 27) and more research is supporting the idea that fiber-rich whole food sources of carbohydrate are superior to refined carbohydrates for diet (Giacco et al, 28).

Other possible health benefits come from our seed containing an incredible 7g of plant proteins per serving, which is important for nail, hair and muscle growth/maintenance (Gonzales et al, 29). Because of the importance of protein to the body, plant proteins have also been shown by scientists to potentially “prevent the onset of risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease, i.e., hypercholesterolemia and hypertension, in humans” (Chalvon-Demersay et al, 30).

Additionally, sacha inchi seeds may also help manage diabetes (Hanssen et al, 31). Because sacha inchi contains gamma- and delta- tocopherols, the same antioxidants that may help slow the body’s aging, as well as vitamins like A and E, the body has more tools at its disposal to help possibly combat diabetes naturally (Powers et al, 32), but more research is needed.

Next, since sacha inchi seeds are high in a compound called tryptophan, this amino acid may help you feel good because it is a precursor to the hormone serotonin (Sadok et al, 33). Serotonin is a neurotransmitter and these seeds are believed to help calm the nerves, boost the mood and deal with anxiety, depression and stress (Fanali et al, 34). The tryptophan in these healthy seeds may also help with a restful night sleep (Hornyak et al 35), which seems so important in this busy world.
