Cacao, not cocoa
Cacao and cocoa come from the same bean. The difference is heat. Cocoa is roasted at high temperatures, which gives a milder taste but loses some of what the bean has to offer. Cacao is kept raw, so more of the natural antioxidants, magnesium and iron stay in. Incaliving Peruvian Cacao Powder is raw, organic and single origin, with an earthy, deep chocolate flavor and a soft natural sweetness.

How to use cacao powder

Frequently asked questions
Does cacao powder have caffeine? Very little. One tablespoon has about 12 mg of caffeine, compared with about 95 mg in a cup of coffee. Cacao’s gentle lift comes mostly from theobromine, a milder cousin of caffeine.
Can I substitute cacao powder for cocoa powder in recipes? Yes, one for one. Cacao is a bit stronger and less sweet, so you may add a touch more sweetener.
Is this Dutch processed? No. Dutch processing uses an alkali to soften the flavor. Ours is natural, raw and unprocessed.

It’s ok. Perhaps I expected a dark chocolate-like powder that we are used to, like Dutch cocoa. Because I don’t use sugar, the light color of the cacao tastes very smooth and even. It would be interesting to find out the real properties and benefits of it to make me want to buy it again vs. Dutch cocoa.

This cacao powder is incredible. We’ve searched and searched for cacao powder similar to what we had in Peru. Finally!! It’s smooth, delicious, and just like we enjoyed in the Amazon.
